You won’t see it, but you’ll feel it

Thermonet features 3.5mm TwistedTwin cable, self-adhesive mesh and our low-profile cold tail connection cable. These features make up what we call LayFlat Technology because this combination neutralises tension in the finished product and makes Thermonet easier to fit.

Safe, simple and reliable

Inside and out, Thermonet underfloor heating cables have a strong fluoropolymer coating, a continuous armoured earth sheath, and multi-shrand twin conductors.

The conductors are twisted together to remove electromagnetic fields (EMF) and to neutralize the cable’s stress, expansion, and contractions along its entire length, resulting in a more durable and long-lasting cable.

Full Self Adhesive Mesh

Thermonet is installed wire-side-down which means the heating cable is protected from damage during installation by the hard wearing mesh layer.

Minimal Height Build-Up

Thermonet is easy to install thanks to revolutionary extrusion methods that give true “laid flat” technology. The matting system is only 3.5mm thick, with a 4mm thick low-profile cold tail that is usually hidden under the tile adhesive layer.

  • Can Thermonet 150W be installed below a screed?

Thermonet 150W is intended for installation above the screed, specifically within the tile adhesive. It can also be used in screeds up to 20mm thick. However, for screeds exceeding 20mm in thickness, an In Screed Heating system like the Thermonet 200W is necessary for optimal performance.

  • Should Underfloor Heating be installed below or above the waterproofing?

To achieve a fully waterproof substrate, it is advisable to install the floor heating system above the waterproofing layer. However, in applications where the waterproofing is applied on top of the screed, an in-screed heating system should be installed beneath the waterproofing layer.

  • Is Underfloor Heating safe to be installed in the shower?

Thermogroup’s underfloor heating systems can be safely installed in shower areas, provided the floor is tiled and not a shower base, matching the rest of the bathroom. These systems feature an IP68 rating and a continuous earth braid along the entire cable, ensuring safety even if the cable comes into contact with water. For added protection, it is recommended to avoid terminating the heating system within the shower area.

  • Can Underfloor Heating be installed up the side and on top of a shower seat?

Underfloor heating cables must be fully covered by a cement-based material and cannot function in an open space. Therefore, if the shower seat is tiled like the rest of the bathroom and the cables are encased in a cement-based flexible tile adhesive, it is safe to install underfloor heating on the shower seat.

  • Why would I use a matting system over against a loose wire system?

The matting system features self-adhesive properties and comes with pre-spaced heating cables, which significantly simplifies and accelerates the installation process compared to loose wire systems. Additionally, the pre-spaced cables ensure uniform heat distribution, eliminating the potential for patchy heating that can occur with loose wire installations.

  • What is the best Underfloor Heating system for my application?

If you’re unsure about the best floor heating system for your needs or feel overwhelmed by the numerous options available, Thermogroup’s online underfloor heating system selector tool can guide you in making the right choice. This tool uses a straightforward four-step process to identify the most suitable underfloor heating system for your specific application. It also provides a comprehensive list of necessary products, ensuring you have everything needed for installation. If your requirements fall outside the options provided by the tool, please don’t hesitate to contact us for further discussion.

  • What is the difference between Thermonet 150W and Thermonet 200W, and which system should I choose?

The primary distinction between Thermonet 150W and Thermonet 200W lies in their wattage per square meter and their intended applications. Thermonet 150W is specifically designed for installation directly beneath tiles, embedded within the tile adhesive. In contrast, Thermonet 200W is optimized for installation beneath a screed, leveraging its higher wattage to effectively heat through the screed layer.

  • What are the rough in or first fix requirements for Underfloor Heating and a Controller?

When preparing the electrical setup for your underfloor heating system and its controller, the electrician should initially provide mains power to the thermostat location. Next, they will need to install two 20mm conduits from the thermostat position down to the floor. One conduit is for the underfloor heating cold tail, and the other is for the floor sensor.
