NSW Announces Round 2 of Funding for Businesses with EV Chargers

This significant move is not only about promoting environmental sustainability but also about catering to the convenience and needs of the increasing number of EV owners, thereby making travel across NSW easier and more accessible.

Interested parties should note that applications for this funding are now open, with grants covering up to 75% of installation costs. However, time is of the essence, as the application window closes on Friday, 3rd May 2024 at 5 pm AEDT.

What's New in Round 2?

Since the first round of funding, there have been some exciting changes to the program:

  • More companies are approved to provide EV charger hardware and software.
  • More areas and types of destinations are eligible for funding.
  • There’s more money available to help with installation costs.
  • Businesses have more freedom in how they set up their charging sites.
  • And there’s more time allowed for getting the chargers installed.

But that’s not all – there are even more updates outlined in the guidelines.

How Businesses Can Get Involved

Are you a business owner interested in joining the EV revolution? Here’s what you need to know:

Know Your Benefits

If your site is eligible, the NSW Government will cover:

  • 75% of the cost of approved EV chargers (7 kW and/or 22 kW)
  • 75% of installation costs (up to $3,000 per charging port)
  • 75% of the first year’s subscription for EV charger software.

Check Your Eligibility

To qualify, your site must:

  • Be in an eligible regional NSW area
  • Match one of the approved destination types
  • Be listed on the Australian Tourism Data Warehouse
  • Have no more than 4 existing EV charging ports.
